I started with the miniseries. I watched both of them, and enjoyed them but didn't adore them. I was inspired enough, however, to read the books, especially because they're considered speculative fiction staples. And it's not that the writing is amazing or anything, it's just that the combination of books and things on my television made the world so accessible to me. And also, the minis are so visually stunning.

Ah...I get confused, because I think there's a Dune movie with Kyle McLachlan in it, and mini they sometimes show on SCI FI. I think I'd like to read 'em first. I know they're famous, I've just never gotten around to it.
