IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER:

1. Mr Parker decided that not only would his angel become a lean, mean, ruthless bitch, but so should Jarod (except not the bitch bit. For he is a boy). So Jarod too got trained to be mean, and pretend mean stuff, and Sydney disapproved so he secretly tried to teach Jarod to have a conscience and Mr Raines found out and Sydney disappeared! Which sent Jarod over the edge, so he ran away anyway in order to find Sydney, and Miss Parker came back to the Centre to find their precious pretender. CUE THEME MUSIC.

2. The Centre stole their DNA to make awesome intelligent babies! And Jarod finds out and tells Miss P and they steal them away! (most overused Pretender trope ever) (BUT STILL AWESOME)

3. THEY KISS IN ISLAND OF THE HAUNTED. WHICH I HAVE ON MY COMPUTER ADLSKJALSDFDASF I SHOULD SCREENCAP.

oh! BY THE WAY, just because you never mentioned it, did you ever read my Pretender AU? Of course, it might have been just that you thought it was TERRIBLE, but I thought the question beared asking.

1. that one time just after college, when she was dating someone else and he was toying with alcoholism.

2. after he resigns (and the president fires him), and she nearly cries when she's saying his name she goes home and he's there and they have sex.

4. when huck and molly are in high school, it's a week where they're staying with toby and they get home from school and auntie cj's visiting! and they're so very, very excited that it takes almost an hour before they realise that something is wrong, and auntie cj cries because she's left danny and she's so damn upset and later, she stays the night, curled up on the couch with huck and molly and her own little baby (who is not such a baby any more). and toby and cj don't get together then, but it helps, and then they're together into their dotage (which has been this whole time, anyway, because they're practically dotty already)

5. one day cj is president, and as soon as her terms are over, the first day that she's not the president any longer, he turns up on her doorstep. he says, "i'm sorry," and she's like, "that's sixteen years too late, tobius," and kisses him anyway.

this is the fangirl speaking, because i actually think all the scenes in the series worked fine without the kissing the frak out of her. there are other things i'd change about the series, first.

I thought I hadn't - but I just checked it again, and yes, I did. I must have just gotten way-laid before commenting. It certainly wasn't terrible. It was quite likeable - and you know, it's always a pleasure to read your Miss Parker. But I think the scenario just seemed to go over my head. I mean - I get that they were spies, but why? I felt like there was something I was supposed to get, but didn't. As an AU for the Pretender gang, I guess it just didn't appeal to me. I like them better in the fleet. *g*

Which brings us back to "what makes a great crossover," I think. A crossover takes the characters we know and puts them in a new situation, but an AU changes important things about them - their background or their decisions or something that's central to who they are, and so they can never be those exact characters that we love. I suppose that's why I like AUs, but I LOVE crossovers.

You could be right... SGA is rife with AUs. Some of them work, a lot of them don't. And all too often I think, this is a good story but these aren't the characters I fell in love with.

I think your Miss P worked in that scenario - but Jarod loses something of his wide-eyed innocence when he's working for the government. I don't know... Curious.
