[fic] feeling so bright [bsg] [pilots in the bunkroom]
ficlet: feeling so bright

baggers. unbetaed and written quite quickly whilst participating in the second best discussion in my journal ever. which reminds me: for all those new to bsg fandom, you need to read this, the best discussion in my journal ever, otherwise known as Captain Adama wears no (under)pants.

Up so early feel so bright
Didn't get much sleep last night
Freight train rattled through my head
Whistle blowing love is dead

Kara has her eyes shut, but it's no surprise when Lee pulls her curtains back.
"You've gotta learn to walk quieter," she says, and he laughs.
"Yeah, well, you've gotta learn to stop snoring, so I suppose we're even."
Kara listens as Lee sits back on the table, and rests his feet on her bunk. She opens her eyes, and he's rubbing his hand across his face and over his neck. "Hard shift?" she asks, and he sighs.
"Hard week," he replies. "Hard month. Hard year."
She watches his hands, lets his words flow around the room.
"I'm just sick of all of this, Kara," he says, and he looks up and meets her eyes. "I don't know what to do." He drops to his knees, suddenly, and grasps her hand. "Tell me what to do, Starbuck," he says, faux-earnest. "You are great and almighty, with your hair as of silk and your skills as of the Gods. Tell me how to energise myself, how to conquer."
She smiles at him, and pushes him away.
"I have the solution to your problems, Apollo, weakest of the Gods," she announces, and swings to her feet. She opens her locker door, and rummages around inside. "Ambrosia," she says as she withdraws the bottle, and he grins at her.
"Truly a gift from the Gods," he says, and snatches at the bottle.
"Me or the bottle?" she asks, and dances from his grip.
He chases her around the bunkroom, around and around the table like some sort of Geminon farce, and she darts and pauses and leaps over chairs but she can't go far because if she leaves the room she'll be pounced by pilots demanding liquor, so it's a foregone conclusion when he catches her, wraps his arms around her chest and his hands around the bottle and squeezes tight.
"Give it to me, Kara," he says, voice a low rumble in his chest. She feels his heavy breath on her ear and follows the beating of his heart.
"A little unfit there, Apollo," she says, unwilling to relinquish either the game or the bottle. "You've got to get some exercise in, or you're going to get fatter."
He bites her ear and tickles her. She laughs but doesn't let go.
"Got to do better than that," she gasps out as she laughs, but she gives it up when he leans forward and licks behind her ear and it tickles so much she almost drops the bottle.
Rather lose now than lose it all later, she thinks, and hands him the bottle. Lee cracks open the lid and looks around. "Receptacles?" he asks, and she raises an eyebrow.
"Frak no, Adama!" Kara replies, and he lifts the bottle to his mouth and drinks. He hands the bottle to her, and as she throws her head back he takes a seat on the table.
"Oh," he says, "I hope you have another."
"Only the best for my CAG," she says, and drinks again.
She looks forward to the hangover.
