Miss Piggy is a feminist
musesfool: On crossovers. And here's the thing - when I write a cracktastic crossover, I'm depending on people who read it to do that. If you hate crossovers, or you have no interest in either fandom, then a crossover is not going to work for you.
Japanese Community groups protest casting of Non Japanese in film and calls for boycott of film. So. Japanese people are protesting the use of Chinese and Malay actors to portray Japanese people? GOOD. I want to see this movie, I really do, but I hate hate hate the concept of an "Asian" conglomerate - I am all for forwarding the Chinese (and yes, the Malay) agenda, but DUDE. DUDES. Honestly.

Huh. Okay, I was going to write fic now, but I suspect there will be A Rant shortly.

why isn't anyone protesting that the book the film is based on is BAD? It's a BAD, Nicholas Sparks-level book. Plus, it was written by a white guy. Where are the geishas being upset that a white male is co-opting their experience? Just, for instance.

This is an excellent question. I have never actually read the book for this exact reason, although I suspect I should, just so I can yell about him.

The reason why I want to watch this movie is simply to see how everything is represented. I'm not even sure if that sentence makes sense.

There's 1001 Japanese women that can *act*. Hell, I would have been pleased if they'd used one any dozen Korean chicks. Though that wouldn't have gone over very well at all.

While I love you for reccing me (I'm flattered like woah, and not deserving in the least), I hate you for reccing me, because I stalked her userinfo and userpics and she has an icon of Bronson Arroyo and Johnny Damon, and a kickass Neville icon, so now if she doesn't think I'm remotely friendable, I will mope.

You've sparked a thought in me re: MoaG, but I can't quite put it into words at the moment. I'll be thinking about it, though.
