Just Like a Hundred Times Before by Pen
Blade: Trinity, Hannibal King, G.

They trace the path of the moon as it moves through the sky, and when the sky is dark the signs all say the thing. He takes delight in running his hands across the weapons, stroking them and measuring them and sliding one into his holster.
"Maybe I should leave you two alone," Abigail interrupts. He smiles at her.
"It's a ritual, of sorts," Hannibal says. "It works."
He hustles her to the car, and she slides her earphones into her ears as he starts the engine. "Are you sure?" he asks. Indicates the iPod.
"Of course," she replies. "Why change a good thing?"
"Uh, because we're going into Chinatown during the Lunar New Year?"
She grins. "Just until we get there, then."
They slip through the crowded streets, hunting Chinese sprites. The sprites slip into houses after the sun fades, imitating the Nian, leaving dead skin and nightmares as they go, and Hannibal is used to vampires and werewolves but it never occurred to him that the beasties of other countries might exist, too.
"This is so awesome," he says, later, blinking in the fireworks and deafened by the noise.
Abigail laughs, and in the light of the fireworks she glows.
