this is a gift for sloane, who is currently asleep, but had a bad day. there shall be much of this spam until i go to bed.

The cream coloured envelope is buried beneath long envelopes with clear plastic windows and the large pieces of glossy junk mail that litter her post box. She almost throws it in the ever-growing pile of bills that she cannot afford to pay, but realises it is not a bill and opens it.
She skims past the words but only sees the LexCorp logo.
She throws it in the bin.
*
Her phone rings, and it's a private number.
"Chloe Sullivan," she says in her professional voice.
"I notice you declined my invitation," Lex says down the phone.
She doesn't say, how did you get my number? and she doesn't say, how did you get my address? because Metropolis is Lex's town and he knows where everyone is.
She hangs up.
*
At six in the morning, when it's dark outside and she's just stumbled out of bed, she checks her email as she waits for the kettle to boil.
Email from lex at and she adds the address to her spam filter.
He must know what she's doing though, because every hour he emails her from a new address.
By end of business, she's given in and read them.
*
She slides into the chair opposite him.
"Lex," she says.
The chairs are velvet and the menu has no prices in it. She's in her dirty jeans and a random top, and she's surprised they let her in. She doesn't care. She's not out to make an impression.
She already has.

for those of you not sloane, this fic follows from this and this, although you do not need to read them to understand this. i put the links in simply so you can read the rest of my chloe/lex.
