[fic] cat and hotdog missing scene from 2.06
Cat and Hotdog. 200 words of missing scene from 2.06
She intercepts him on the hangar deck.
“You frakking idiot!” she says, “you could have killed me!”
“It wasn’t my fault!” he protests, and reaches out a hand to touch her shoulder. The warmth of her skin reassures him she’s still alive before she pushes his hand away.
“Your thumb on the trigger, Hotdog.”
Hotdog looks over her shoulder and meets the Captain’s eyes. Her voice fades away as the Captain draws up to them.
“You weren’t clear to go, Kat,” says the Captain. “We need all our pilots, and if you’re going to be one, you need to listen when we’re out there.” Kat chokes back a protest, and it sounds like she’s in pain.
Hotdog’s not a real pilot, so he feels free to pull a finger at the Captain’s departing back.
The Captain’s not a real Captain anyway, which is small comfort.
Cat puts out a hand, rests it on Hotdog’s arm. “What am I, a civillian?” she asks, and her voice is so small. Hotdog envelops her in a hug.
“It’s cool,” he says as she wraps her arms around him, stifles a sob in his shoulder. “It’ll all work out.”
He’s mostly talking to himself.
