The Abhorsen Trilogy:
In a conversation with [livejournal.com profile] koalathebear here, where she briefly outlines why people should read the Abhorsen Trilogy, it occurred to me that I once wrote Abhorsen fic, and never mentioned it here. So I shall link it now: A Time For, about Sabriel and the bells and the time after Rogir. And it's not the best I've ever written (and was written about thirteen months ago), but there. I've linked it now.

The Abhorsen Trilogy is a trilogy of books set in The Old Kingdom, where there is magic and old spirits. Sabriel is sent to live across the wall in Anclestierre as a child, because away from the Old Kingdom magic does not work as well, and her father wanted her to learn and be safe. Anyway, that makes it sound lame, but the first book, Sabriel, was the seminal book of my high school years. I read it when I was thirteen, and I was obsessed from that point on with the science fiction (and fantasy) section of my local library. So. I just want to put that out there.

Narnia:
[livejournal.com profile] koalathebear has a whole lot of caps and also some thoughts.

Random Fandom:
The SVU valentines
A whole lot of Serenity cast photos
Jason Behr, hot and in black and white and tied down. A photoshoot.

Fic:
The One Where Ken Meets GI Joe, by [livejournal.com profile] fryadvocate. I think the title tells you all you really need to know.
Almost Was Good Enough, by [livejournal.com profile] maddeinin. Narnia. Susan, there and back again and it's so soft and sad. It's AWESOME.
Sidekick by [livejournal.com profile] 3jane. A DCU/BSG crossover. Roy and Lee.
Secret Identities, by [livejournal.com profile] resmin. DCU/Smallville. The thing about secret identities that the new Batgirl hasn't figured out yet is that they're supposed to be *secret*.

In conclusion, for serious guys, I want some Anna Nalick. I have Breathe, Consider This, In My Head and Catalyst. FURNISH ME, FLIST.

Anything to spread the music addiction around.

Oh, my goodness, Garth Nix!!! So wonderful! I haven't read Abhorsen in a while, but we're reading Sabriel for a book club, and I'm really looking forward to the reread. I also adored Shade's Children, which is so terribly, terribly sad :(

Have you read Ragwitch? I bought it because it's Nix, but haven't started it yet, so I was wondering what you thought. (Actually, I, um, bought it for my niece and then I kept it. Heh!)

Yay spread the Garth Nix love. He's from Canberra you know? :D From my hometown? :)

Sabriel's my favourite, too although I like Abhorsen a great deal. I haven't managed to finish Ragwitch but Shade's Children is so beautifully sad.

The Old Kingdom trilogy is wonderful. Have you read the short story collection he put out on the Old Kingdom? I've been waiting for it to go into paperback.
I loved Shade's Children, but I never bought Ragwitch because it looked like it was written for younger children - not the YA level.

Across the Wall is in paperback now. The only problem is it just makes me wish he would write another full length Old Kingdom novel instead of tantalising short stories :P

Danke for the rec. You made my week.
