sweetestdrain and now i'm all PILOTS OMG PILOTS. thus i have now written for jadengreen36: five times people observe something between kara and lee.
1. she's drunk and she's young, and she shimmies up to him. "care for a dance, apollo?" she asks, and he grins at her. "starbuck, i can dance circles around you," he says, and he grabs her hand and swings her out to the dance floor.
back at the table, zak knocks back his drink and watches his girlfriend dancing with his brother. he knows she's safe with him, though, and he goes to find another drink.
2. starbuck taps the table twice, and apollo folds. joker gives an accusing glare. "is that a code?" he asks. starbuck grins. "of course not," she replies. "that'd be cheating. could you imagine the noble apollo cheating?" joker shakes his head, but when starbuck wins, he's not surprised.
back in the racks, joker watches as starbuck stashes her winnings in her locker, but before she closes the door, she passes two pairs of socks and a chocolate bar to apollo with a grin. apollo grips her hand, and she laughs. "you are a con artist, starbuck," he says, and stashes what she gave him under his pillow.
3. racetrack walks in on them frakking in the shower, and she walks straight back out again.
of course she tells every pilot that she meets. she's not a frakking saint.
4. when kara and sam get married, they have this big party on new caprica. it's nothing on what they might have had three years ago, but she's the hero of the fleet and he always was a well-known pyramid star, so it's as big as they're going get. she even wears a dress that someone rummaged up from somewhere and she looks so beautiful in it. and there's food and there's alcohol and there's dancing, and there's this one moment when sam looks up from the conversation he's having with cally, and kara is talking to lee and they're standing close and kara's frowning. and sam's bride can't frown on her wedding day, so he walks over but before he gets there lee's hand skims over her back without actually touching her, and then lee walks away. and by the time sam reaches her she's smiling at him, and he forgets all the rest of it.
5. dee's talking with the admiral when starbuck slinks through the door, and starbuck just waves and is kind of nonchalant, like she hasn't done anything wrong, but when lee comes up behind her and quietly says, "kara," she sobs out loud and turns around and throws her arms around him. they stand like that, in the middle of cic, for a good thirty seconds; not moving, just hugging, and lee has this faint smile on his face, and dee knows.
