Well, I got them from JBs! So they were at least there at some point!
They are so totally fucked up, and so uncompromising and so FIERCE that I love them all. I love all of the Atreides, and a lot of the other characters. You should absolutely watch the mini again as soon as you are able! I watch it quite often, just with it in the background so I can watch my favourite bits.
I think Herbert did it on purpose. As you know, I think that Herbert had some SERIOUS issues, and I think he chose a lot of the themes in his books intentionally. There's this bit in God Emperor of Dune where someone comments how cruel it was, that Leto was alive 3000 years without his twin, it would have been better to kill them both (or something), and I can't believe that Herbert wrote that by accident.
If it helps I will co-mod the East West 101 comm...I have seriously been thinking about starting one except the idea of doing anything right now that isn't paid employment or assignments is doing my head in.
