Yesterday I said (over here)Reply to this post using an icon in a fandom you know I write for, and I'll write a ficlet based on it for you.
So I present some drabbles.
icon safety rule number one - 100 words for ely709 [bsg. kara]
Kara looked at the photo in her locker. She ran a finger down the space between her and Lee. Was it getting bigger?
"Lieutenant Thrace," Lee said, walking into the room. Kara spun and leaned casually against her locker.
"Captain Adama." She tilted her head. "Nice bruises. Get in a fight? That's not setting the best example for the nuggets."
Lee rummaged in his locker. "I'm a better example than you are." He dropped his towel and started to pull on his pants. Kara turned around and pretended to look for something in her locker. No need to tempt herself.
icon never gets easy - 100 words for ilanabean42 [bsg. lee]
Lee walks through the rooms, with pad and pen and two baskets. He inventories everything inside each locker, and throws them into the baskets. One basket is labeled 'Recyclable.' The other has no label, but if it did, it would say 'Useless.'
Lee thinks he should put himself into the unlabeled basket. He is stealing from the dead, and the wrong person to be doing so. He never knew these pilots, but when he tried to push the job onto Kara, she just looked at him. "Maybe it's better that way," she’d said, and drawn the curtain on her bunk.
icon hell bent for leather - 100 words for scribbling_elf [hp. sirius]
If Sirius were a different sort of person, he would spend several hours every day in the shed, polishing his motorbike. James would yell through the door and bang on the wall, and Remus would laugh about a man possessed. Sirius would use expensive potions and delicately treat every inch of his bike.
Instead, Sirius spends his time revving the engine and careening around the countryside, heedless of any muggles that might look up. The wind in his hair and, occasionally, Moony's arms around his waist as he executes turns. Nobody flies like Sirius does, and he loves his bike.
icon grown like a lion - 100 words for sajee [hp. ginny]
There is a thumping coming from above. It is not quite regular, and it is getting louder. But the ceiling does not vibrate, and the stairs do not move, and the ghosts do not panic, so it is not an emergency. There is no danger to the castle, and it relaxes.
Ginny takes the stairs three at a time, and pauses to strike a pose halfway down. She does not care if there is anyone to see her. She has cast a sonorous charm on her throat, and as she waves her wand it throws glitter and smoke.
Ginny sings.
icon not the disease - 100 words for Sloane [svu. olivia]
She's kind of cold, but she resists the urge to wrap her arms around herself whilst Stabler questions the guy. She doesn't want to look like less of a cop in front of anyone, especially not her new partner in her new department. She has a job to do, but she doesn’t want to hit this rapist and get pulled up on charges. She tries to look interested, but Stabler doesn't need her help. He's got this look, and they've been together two days and she already knows what that shit-eating grin means.
She shivers.
He offers her his jacket.
icon come out and play - 100 words for dee [potc. jack]
Jack leaned across the table.
"You look like you might have a bit of a problem there, mate." Jack enunciated clearly, careful not to spit. He gestured at the space between them and set his beads clanking. He grinned.
"Not at all," replied Norrington as he wiped the saliva off his cheek and moved a piece. "And I believe that is checkmate."
Jack scrutinised the board suspiciously. He counted the squares, and the pieces, and checked in Norrington’s hat for extra kings. “Well, I shall have to concede, Commodore.”
Norrington grinned back. “Excellent,” he replied. “I shall fetch the plank.”
icon Wet Starbuck - 200 words for wildtiger7 [bsg. lee]
Lee had known Kara for about ten minutes before she pushed him into a large fishpond. He surfaced, spluttering and coughing and spitting out the vile water. Kara had attempted to keep a straight face, but had started laughing when he climbed out of the pond with a wig made of floating vines and a fish on his shoulder.
Once, Lee asked Kara about the wedding. She told him about attempts to secure a spot on the beach and go parasailing. She laughed out loud at the face he pulled when she explained that he was to be barefoot and knee-deep in the ocean. He does not know if she was kidding.
Lee does not trust Kara around water.
He enters the bathroom and leans over the basin to brush his teeth. Kara is next to him, but there are no other free basins. He tenses as she reaches for the tap, but she only covers herself in water, and not him. It is a surprise when he leaves the bathroom and he is not damp.
Later, she will attack him with a hosepipe. It will not be a surprise. Lee knows that Kara cannot turn over a new leaf.
I'm kind of glad nobody used a Captain Commando icon.

Date: 2005-02-24 11:28 pm (UTC)Well, HMV is currently selling the miniseries for $19.00 (I know because I almost bought it on Monday). And since it was only the first ep that screened on Wednesday, that puts you up to date. You'll recall the myriad links I've posted in my journal the last couple of weeks - they are really, really useful. And then ask me questions - you know my aim. And where I live.
Yay BSG!
