omg. STOP.
I have OTPed myself into oblivion.
If you are online right now, feel free to use this post to talk about INFIDELICIOUS PILOTS.
I shall start. I love the idea of infidelicious pilots so much that I have a handy tag, though it appears that I don't have very much tagged with that one. No matter!
Nobody asked me for this, but I have decided to write five times kara and lee were infidelicious, and FLAIL MYSELF INTO OBLIVION.
1. three days after breaking up with joanne, he brings the last box of her stuff around. "so," she says, just as he's giving his platitudes and taking his leave, "you and kara." and because he's stupid, he says, "what about me and kara?" "you know exactly what about you and kara," joanne yells. "are you and kara frakking?"
"no," he says, and it's the truth, but she's not his girlfriend anymore and he's just glad she didn't ask for the past tense, because he's never been one to lie to a girl.
2. they bar hop to celebrate her twenty-first birthday. "you don't think we're getting too old for this?" he asks her after they're thrown out of their third pub (fourth brawl). "nah," she says, "it's just practice for your thirtieth." "oh, frak you!" he protests, and later, they stumble back to her apartment, and he does.
she doesn't officially start going out with zak for another thirty-six hours, so it's fine, really, and he goes back to war college pretty soon after that, so they never talk about it.
3. she promises sam that she loves him, and that she'll come back for him, but they're not married and they've only known one another for three weeks, so when lee pushes her against the wall and whispers, "frak, i've missed you" into her skin as he slides a hand under her shirt, well, it's not really infidelity.
it's just two old friends, and his skin under her hands is warm and familiar, and she breathes "me too" into his neck.
4. sam is out in the hills when he knocks on the tent door. "hey," he says, and she smiles at her old friend. "lee," she says. "how's married life?" "it's good," he replies. "what about you?" "it's good," she agrees with a nod, and then she kisses him.
he smells like his viper, and she breathes him in.
5. they lose track of the resistance for days, for weeks, and every time the cylons broadcast an execution to the fleet they know is hiding, lee holds his breath. the raptor they track from new caprica's surface fills him with hope and fear all at once, and he can't look away.
in the hangar bay, she is soft and forlorn and surrounded by guns, and he tells them to stand down before he wraps her in his arms.
this reunion is like the last in another hangar bay some years earlier, but this time, when he kisses her with his joy, she doesn't push him away.
he doesn't think about dee until it's too late.

Date: 2006-09-10 03:32 am (UTC)I am always up for discussion of infidelicous pilots because it's everything I love about them: irrational desire and messy emotions and lots of guilt and trainwreck.
And no. 5 is fantastic, Dee as afterthought.
And and and PILOTS. PEN. WAH.

Date: 2006-09-10 04:35 am (UTC)Their emotions are so messy, mostly through their own fault, that is, they are attracted to one another and they love one another so much but have decided that being happy together would be inappropriate. So instead they angst all about the place, and drag everyone else into their little angstcakes drama.
I love the secret little touches and the little side glances and every Kara/Lee moment in Final Cut. And I love the way that they've had sex before and they'll have sex again and every single time they always feel so guilty.

Date: 2006-09-10 01:15 pm (UTC)OH PILOTS. They're both emotional trainwrecks and life would be so much easier if they could either stop loving each other or get over themselves and just do it, but they can't because there's SO MUCH guilt and baggage and asklf;jdsaflk.
