these are the drabbles that didn't make it into Not For All Your Sins, which was the BSG/Sandman crossover I wrote a while back.
I don't like these any where near as much as I like the ones that actually ended up in the fic, but they have their merits.
helo and despair
The civilians dispersed after the raptor left, encouraged by Helo’s gun, but not before stones were thrown. It started to rain, so Helo left the field, unsure the role a combat pilot could play on a broken Caprica.
Despair traces the blood down his cheek.
Under a tree, soaking wet, Helo pauses to breathe and eat. The rations in his kit are disgusting; two bites and he has had enough, but he keeps on eating.
His breath is so loud that at first he does not hear the stomping of the cylons.
When he does, he thinks about not running.
prosna and death
The exodus of Hell aside, Death is always busiest during a war. "Come on," she says. Prosna looks at her blankly. "We have to go." Death has a lot to do, but she gives him a moment.
"Who are you?" Prosna asks.
"I'm nobody special," laughs Death. "Now take my hand, sweetie. I'm in a hurry."
"But the fire," he starts. "There's so much to do. I can't go yet." Death puts a hand to his mouth and shushes him.
"It's time to go."
They leave as Cally starts to cry. He has had a lifetime – it doesn’t matter anymore.
six and delirium
It takes Six 0.00001 of a second to realise that the little girl beside her is not human.
"GuTen TAg," says the little girl, and Six does not understand. "我喜你的头发." Butterflies come out of the girl's ears, and one lands on Six's finger.
The little girl disappears, and takes her butterflies with her. She leaves behind myriad information that Six has collated; all cylons will know and disassemble this information before the day is out.
It is the punchline to a joke that cylons do not understand, and Delirium trusts they never will.
Barnabas is predictably worried.
(in chinese, delirium says "i like your hair.")

Date: 2005-03-21 04:48 am (UTC)I think that there are so many fandoms that work excellently crossed with BSG - if you scroll a little further down my journal, I made a link to posts with crossovers. And it's so weird how well they work.

Though seriously, BSG/Sandman is sheer genius. With all the bleakness that pervades the BSG-verse, the themes of Sandman fit in seamlessly.
