Is anyone else reading this series? Court of the Air, The Kingdom Under the Waves, and Rise of the Iron Moon, by Stephen Hunt.

I kind of want to write some fic, but I am VERY VERY SUSPICIOUS that I am the only person I know (apart from my partner) reading these books!

I've never heard of this series but it sounds interesting. I've added it to my Goodreads list.

Well, fair warning! It is fun and entertaining, but the books suffer from 'wish he had a better editor' syndrome. Too many themes!

It's a steampunky series set in a country called Jackals, where they keep their country free by having the only Aeronautical Army in the world. Each of the books features a handful of the same characters but overwhelmingly new characters, and sort of have similar premises - something threatens Jackals, so they have to go on an adventure to a new place (not necessarily a new country). It suffers from some editing issues - they're long-ish (about 450 pages each), and yet crammed full of plots and themes. I feel like they would be better if they were tighter and not so busy. But they're fun to read. Other nations include the Free Steammen Nation (living mechanicals) and the Quartershaft (uhm, basically rampant evil communists, which, issues).

Anyway, I have been interested enough to read all that have so far been published, so.
