I think the only thing I've really seen McAvoy in has been Last King of Scotland-- and you can tell how that might be a kind of scarring first impression. Am now wondering if I can stand to see him in anything else without feeling disgust. (Which is testament to his excellent acting in Last King of Scotland, I suppose?)
Do you, uhm, enjoy movies that are not necessarily very good? Children of Dune is a (moderately) close adaptation of the books, and is quite enjoyable, but there are good actors chewing the scenery, and very wooden actors. I think it is fun.
There could be cake, we could make an afternoon of it...

Dude, I have one word for you: Stargate. Nearly all my fandoms have been not-very-good scifi!
When is all your uni stuff done and dusted? I'm in essay-writing mode at the mo, but will be done-ish by June 7. We could totally make an end-of-semester afternoon of it!
I am done with uni stuff for semester, but I still have TAA stuff going on sporadically. I could probably do it over the long weekend (12-14th) if a day in there suits you?
Yep, I have that whole weekend free at the mo. Want to provisionally say Saturday and confirm closer to the date? Your place or mine--? We just yesterday got a gigantor hand-me-down flatscreen from the in-laws (bit of a waste, as we don't really watch much TV), but on the other hand: you've seen how close our couch is to the TV, it could be kind of overwhelming!
Ah, sorry, forgot that you did FOE! Sunday is just as good for me as any other day, and beanbags + kitchen is for the win! I shall put my procrastinatory mind towards something tasty I can bring (or cook at your place, if you don't mind?).
It seemed like one of the most honest depictions of African politics for a while. One day they'll make such films about Mugabe, De Klerk, Zuma, Kabila, et al. Of course, the plot still had to revolve around the white guy.

Date: 2010-05-29 12:43 pm (UTC)I consulted IMDB and realised that I have seen McAvoy in something else: he was Mr Tumnus in Narnia! But I didn't recognise him at all.
