thank you for your interest in the poll in the previous entry. i actually came home, made some notes about the vid, rewatched the good bits of final cut (ie, the bits with pilots), and then watched rome.
*
speaking of rome, i've just watched the first episode. it was interesting.
show of hands who liked it, please? i can't decide. which is unusual, as usually i'm either yes! or no! about it, not this wishy-washy indecisiveness.
*
there's this vid floating around, and it uses a song called 'consider this.' can someone upload it (the song) for me? please?
*
i'm tired and feeling blah and actually feeling pretty emo too, so before i attempt to be creative, i'm going to list some things that make me happy, because there's some sort of meme going around.
things that make me happy (in no particular order), by pen, aged twenty three and a little bit
1. good vids to songs i like and in fandoms i like
2. fic
3. plush penguins
4. the muppet movie
5. cooking
6. archery (when it's not raining)
7. pride and prejudice
8. children ofsloane HAHA i mean children of dune. what a typo
9. real person fic about james and jessica from the children of dune mini series (omg you should totally try it some time)
10. breakfast on sunday mornings with my friends
11. trashy magazines.
12. tim tams
13. lying on the beach, reading (please remember to wear a hat and sunscreen)
14. post cards
15. batman
okay, i'm done, but if you'd like to leave a comment that says anything at all, that would be nice. you can ask for fic, if you'd like. or whatever takes your fancy.

Date: 2005-09-12 04:59 am (UTC)I only like parts of Rome: the political intrigues, Marc Antony, some characters like Niobe, but -- and this is probably the first time in my life I say this -- I wish they'd spare us most of the sex scenes, because they're seriously unsexy.

Date: 2005-09-12 05:19 am (UTC)and in conclusion, boys are fuzzy and cute
Date: 2005-09-12 04:40 am (UTC)I have done laundry. I have reconsidered my indifference toward cats. I have done my How To Be An Angry Liberal Class homework. I have made plans to be fetched by my pet Hufflepuff instead of taking the bus tomorrow and maybe I will make her watch Firefly and eat yummy food with her hooray!
AND, I have the song: Anna Nalick - Consider This.
Oh oh. And I also watched a Starbuck vid that almost made me cry. Twice. Semi-happily. And if you haven't you should watch it and join in the dweebiness.
Re: and in conclusion, boys are fuzzy and cute
Date: 2005-09-12 04:50 am (UTC)i have seen that vid. that is a fandom classic. along with, oh, most of the stuff by
i worked on my fic a little, but i've still got a couple of hours before bed. So we'll see how i go.
a pet hufflepuff? really? how intriguing.
and so are dinosaurs. well. not fuzzy.
Date: 2005-09-12 05:09 am (UTC)I should have known everybody would know the Sisabet vid, since she has made the bestest vids for Angel, too.
I am very wordy right now! Probably because it's definitely time for bed.

Date: 2005-09-12 05:07 am (UTC)Random things that make me very happy:
- The North by Northwest music. The whole film makes me happy, but it starts with Bernard Hermann's soundtrack.
- Hiking in the Alps.
- Good vids, good fics in a favourite fandom. They always make me feel grateful.
- The very beginning of Spring and Autumn, when you can smell the change of season in the air.
Would you like a postcard from the South of France? Toulouse or Carcassone?

Date: 2005-09-12 06:01 am (UTC)And it has been my lament for lo these many days that there have been no new vids using the new footage.
Randomly, my father's favourite movie is North By Northwest.
I would LOVE a postcard from any of those places you just mentioned.

Date: 2005-09-12 06:38 am (UTC)Yesss! The first half of the season will end in less than 2 weeks anyway, so I guess people will have the time to make some great vids with what we'll get.
I'll be in the South next weekend and I love postcards too, that's why I mentioned it. I don't have your address, though. If you e-mail it to me, you'll get a postcard. :)

Date: 2005-09-12 05:17 am (UTC)Dude. Yes.
Also, one day I'm coming down there specifically to try Tim Tams. After hearing Isilya, and now you, rave about them, it's a must.
I have not seen Rome yet, though my sister is supposed to be taping it for me.

Date: 2005-09-12 05:22 am (UTC)we could try emailing you tim tams, but i suspect that would be less successful.

(no subject)
Date: 2005-09-14 06:35 am (UTC)I can always be available at uni, given warning, and I would love to assist you by participating in your psych experiment, but you know I've graduated, right? Received the piece of paper in the mail today and everything. I mean, I really am happy to participate, but I was just making sure you knew.

Date: 2005-09-14 09:45 pm (UTC)Oh thankyou! I knew you'd finished honours, but wasn't sure if you were continuing with post grad. Congrats!
Anyway if you're interested, it takes 30-40 mins, involving a computer categorisation task and some questionnaires. There's no age limit so it doesn't really matter that you've graduated, as long as you still live close enough for transport to be easy. Thursday next week before 2pm is good at the moment, otherwise any day that week save Wed is good (during business hours). Let me know when you're free!

Date: 2005-09-15 12:01 am (UTC)I would be happy to do your experiement. I start work at twelve on Thursday, so sometime before that.

Date: 2005-09-12 07:57 am (UTC)OMG.
TimTams are like crack, baby. Incredible, edible crack.
They're a sandwich cookie, chocolate biscuits with chocolate creme and a chocolate coating, and they come in really good flavors like Mocha, Black Forest, etc.
Mmm. Sadly, I ate the last of my birthday TimTams last week.

Date: 2005-09-13 06:11 am (UTC)Okay, I've worked out my problem with your description. Because you said they're 'a sandwich cookie.' The problem here is that we say biscuit, and Tim Tams are Australian and therefore must be described using Aussie terms. Yes.
I never said I was sane, but I make my own crazy kind of sense.
Who sent you Tim Tams?
(no subject)
Date: 2005-09-13 10:15 am (UTC)I noticed, actually, that the new flavors are much more American-tasting. If that makes sense. I still like the older ones, but I have a think for cherry. And, er, it's chocolate.
And my TimTam fairy is named

Date: 2005-09-13 01:33 pm (UTC)Seriously, I think they are trying to shove the sex down our throats (unnecessarily) to prove that they are a cable show and to somehow stay true to an idea of ancient Rome as a cauldron of sexuality... Truthfully, I have TiVo and just fast forward the sex scenes -- and since I love the show so much I just ignore the issue. I get my weekly dose of pron in other ways. ;-)

How 'bout a hand for "I'd really like to see it, but, alas, I do not get that channel"? I have still managed to become somewhat obsessed, though, because of flist and because I went out and started reading Rubicon and because I'm always somewhat obsessed with Rome (it's a childhood obsession that living in the city for four months when I was in college only made worse).
Pride and Prejudice! I have been trying to enter "pride & prejudice = pr0n for girls" into my lj interests but lj does not seem interested in accepting it.

Date: 2005-09-13 06:03 am (UTC)And I don't get that channel either, obviously, what with me living in Australia and all. Ah, the joy of downloading.

I was singing 'The Rainbow Connection' today.
Don't fall asleep on the beach...painful back of leg burns with a stark line mid-thigh from the bottom of shorts. M.C. Beaton's Hamish MacBeth mysteries are excellent beach reads.
Bob Slate's Stationary sells the best post-cards.
I'll bet Batman keeps the mosquito population in Gotham way down.
