OMG: Beware of Chance Acquaintances: Believe no one who says it is necessary to indulge sex desire
DrJ on Australian slang

i started writing this months ago, way before the new season started, and i've no idea where it was going or what i was doing with it. so i discard it here for your reading pleasure.

i.

He yells at her, screams

[all the things you never said: why did you leave me? why did you pass him? ]

words he only means in the dark of night when he hates himself. Lee turns, and when he steps out of the hangar, he pauses, then

[you remember feeding her chicken soup when she was sick; you touch your fingers to your temple and remember the colour of her skin when she woke up with a hangover]

keeps on walking.

*

It's a tentative meeting when Kara enters the pilots quarters.

And he says he's sorry

[because you hate that you yelled at her and said things you'll never forgive yourself for; because you're sorry for that time in Caprica and that thing with Barnes and the cat; because you're sorry for buying her that hat for her nineteenth and for hiding all her pens before that one exam in second year; because you've never said i love you out loud]

and means it.

ii.

A light touch of fingers

[down your side and feathered kisses to the underside of your breasts; you breathe in the scent in the dip of his neck and mouth iloveyou into this chest]

to the back of her hand, and he says he's sorry.

*

"You're frakking the CAG?" yells Helo, and she reads

[desperation, need, jealousy - seven months of lusting after a fellow officer and all he got was aftertaste]

anger in his words.

She shakes her head, shrugs her shoulders, and

[you draw your arm back, swing; you have no problems hitting a fellow officer, friends and superiors and really crappy pilots, and it's just a shame it's Helo]

turns away.

YES. Wacky Kara-Lee hijinks are my favourite, perhaps even out-ranking the sexing.

It might, actually out rank the sexing. Because wacky hijinks can be a prelude to the sexing.

I really enjoyed this--I like very much the hints of backstory without the need to explain, explain, explain. I usually really don't like stream-of-conciousness, but this is really well done.

Oh, I hate explaining. You guys are all smart enough to work out what isn't being said.
