these things did not happen. NOT AT ALL. I MADE IT ALL UP.
claira may have assisted in the production of this lie, but only a little.
Grace starts preparations for the season three wrap up party ten weeks in advance. Jamie thinks this is a little excessive, but Grace is such a sweetheart that he would never tell her that. She sends emails to remind people to keep the evening free, and he knows that she expects no RSVPs because she expects everyone to come.
"It's very important," she says to him very sternly one morning, when the air is frosty and Jamie thinks his fingers might fall off, and he tells her he might not be available. "I expect you to be there, Jamie," and she frowns. "Why wouldn't you be available?" she asks, and he thinks that's a little shrewd for her. "It's the last day of filming."
"Kerry's mum is coming to visit us," Jamie says, and Grace's frown disappears.
"Tell Kerry's mom that she can come too," Grace replies cheerfully, and hands Jamie a biscuit before she bounces off.
Jamie frowns.
*
One lunch break eight weeks out from the end of filming, Jamie ends up in the queue behind Tahmoh and Grace. "Maybe balloons with hair?" asks Grace as she turns to Tahmoh, and Tahmoh laughs.
"No," he says, "They won't float." He pats her on the shoulder as she frowns. Squeezes her shoulder before reaching for a tray, and it's so quick and so light that Jamie wonders if he imagined it. "But we could draw smiley faces with cigars," Tahmoh suggests, and Grace's replying grin is bright enough to light the room. Grace hugs Tahmoh then, squeezes him tight until he pulls a face, and Jamie laughs out loud.
"I think you're suffocating him, Grace," he says, and Grace lets go.
"He loves it," she says, and Tahmoh nods.
"Suffocated to death by a beautiful cylon. What a way to go. Maybe I should ask Ron, because I'm getting pretty sick of being the pretty boy in this cast. It might be time to move on."
Grace and Tahmoh move along the line, and Jamie can hear Grace shriek, "you'd miss me too much to ever leave, you ungrateful slob!" as he reaches for the ugly looking mashed potato thing.
He thinks it might be nice if Tahmoh were to leave. Better than the alternative.
*
A hand wraps around his wrist as he reaches his car, and he turns to find Katee grinning. "You couldn't hear me? I've been yelling across the lot," she says, and the steam rises as she speaks.
"Sorry," Jamie says. "I've got a lot on my mind."
"So much that you tune me out?" she asks, and her hand on his wrist is warmer than it should be. Or maybe that's just him. "I'm wounded, Jamie. Down to the bone." She rests her free hand over her heart and meets his eyes.
He looks away and frees his wrist from her grasp to ostensibly open the door, but his hand is shaking and he hopes she doesn't notice.
"Is there something I can do for you, Katee? It's pretty cold out here."
"Oh, you can't handle it? You're from England, you should be used to it!"
He slides into the car. "Yeah, well, I'm not. It's cold, and I'm cold, and I'm tired, and I'm going home to my wife and my warm house. So is there something I can do for you?"
The grin drops from Katee's face, and she backs away from his car. "Can you come in a little earlier tomorrow?" and she sounds subdued, like something's wrong. "I want to run through the blocking one last time before we film the scene."
"Yeah sure," he says, and aches as he shuts the door. He waves as he puts the car into reverse, and when he drives off, he's careful not to look in his rear vision mirror.
He doesn't want to know if she's still there.
*
Kara: Gods, Lee, you're such a drag. [She pauses]
Lee: [interrupting her before she can continue] I'm a drag? [Slowly becoming more angry] I'm the one who's trying to keep us alive, and I'm a frakking drag?
Kara: You know what, Lee? Frak you. Take a chance for once. [She turns away]
Lee: [Grabbing at Kara's wrist] I took a chance, Kara, and see where it got us. [He looks like he could spit, he's so angry]
Kara: [For a second, it looks like Kara might cry, but she shrugs her shoulders and shakes his hand free] [She speaks over her shoulder] So take another one, Captain.
[Kara leaves]
[Draw back from Lee, to show him standing in the Ready Room, alone]
End Scene.

"It was good," says Ron, "but I don't know, I feel like it had something missing."
"They were probably wearing too many clothes," says Tahmoh, and ends with a little smirk.
Ron turns to Tahmoh and snaps his fingers. "I think you've hit right on it," he says.
Jamie really hates Tahmoh, sometimes.
*
They do a photo shoot in the run up to the final episode, but the photographer loves the idea of them out of uniform, so they all get squished into ball gowns and tuxedos.
"You have got to be kidding me," says James.
"Hold still," says Mary, as the photographer orders them around. "Your tie is all crooked."
Jamie laughs at the look on James' face. "You've been told by mummy," he says, mockingly, and Mary reaches for Jamie's face.
"Don't you start, Mister," she threatens. "Or I'll get my handkerchief out and clean up your face."
Tricia pats Jamie on the cheek. "He cleans up beautifully," she says. "It's just a shame he's so short."
Tricia towers over him as usual, and it's been years since he really noticed, but when she stands next to him in sharp, blue heels and possibly the longest dress in the world, he misses people of his own height.
He searches out Katee, but she's over beside Tahmoh.
She looks over at him once. He knows: he counts.
The photographer motions him over, then motions for Katee, and Jamie worries a little.
"Think Prom King and Queen," says the photographer, and Jamie really starts to worry.
Jamie kisses her forehead, and they hold the pose for five minutes whilst the photographer gets it just right.
"I'm sorry," she says, softly, and he wishes she'd said it earlier.
*
"I'm sorry!" yells Starbuck. "I'm sorry, okay?"
"Not as sorry as I am," says Jamie, quietly.
"Cut!" yells Ron. "That ad lib, that was perfect," he says.
Katee doesn't look at him the rest of the week.
It makes filming pretty awkward, but it's better than the alternative.
*
Grace slides into the chair beside him. "Look," she says, "I know this is the sort of things guys do for each other, so just tell me if I'm stepping on some male bonding ritual here, but have you considered talking to her?"
"No," says Jamie.
Grace throws her hands up in despair, and he'd almost think it cute if it weren't for the subject matter.
"You were both drunk! Neither of you meant anything by it!" She pauses, and leans forward. Drops her voice. "She's one of your closest friends. You're just going to let her leave without making things better?"
He looks at her. "What if we did mean something by it?" he asks.
Grace leans back. "Then it's even more important that you talk." She stands up to go. "All this drama is getting me down. I'm going to hang out with Tahmoh. He's doing magic tricks for Tricia and Kandyse today." She stops, and meets Jamie's gaze. "I just want you to be happy," she says, and grins.
He watches her go.
*
Kara: [Voice clearly strained] Frakking toasters!
Lee: [Clearly bitter] Having problems, Starbuck?
Kara: If you could give me a hand here, that'd be really great, Apollo.
Lee: [Surprised] Frak! Where'd they come from?
[Shift to CIC]
[Close up of Cmdr Adama's face]
Dee: [off screen] We're getting a lot of DRADIS contact here, Sir.
Kara: [off screen] Frak!
Lee: [off screen] [Distraught] Starbuck!
[Shot of floating debris, and Lee's viper chasing down one remaining Raider]
*
"Oh, I am looking forward to the movie." He hears Katee's voice as soon as he enters the room. The smoke and the smell of alcohol curls around him, and he wonders if Katee will finally give up smoking now she's no longer tied to Starbuck. "Best thing? Only having to see the same people for ten weeks, not three years." There is some laughter, and a squeal as Tahmoh picks her up and carries her across the room.
"You'll miss me," he declares, as he parades her around. "No one to give you gifts. No one to hang out with. No one to prank." He pulls a funny face as she beats on his back.
"I can't wait to be rid of you!" shrieks Katee, and Tahmoh laughs in a faux maniacal way.
They come to a stop in front of Jamie, and Tahmoh abruptly laughs again. "Here," he says to Jamie, "have an ex-pilot." He passes Katee to Jamie, and Jamie worries for a second that he'll drop her, but she holds on to his shoulders and the fear passes.
"Hi," he says.
"Hi," she replies, and tucks a stray hair behind her ear.
After a moment of gazing at her, he realises he's still holding her, and drops her to the ground.
"Nice party," he says.
"Grace did a lot of work," she replies, and he nods.
"I know. She nearly killed me when I thought I couldn't come."
"Oh?" asks Katee. "Why weren't you coming?"
"Kerry's mum is here to visit," he says, and wishes he hadn't.
She nods. "Okay," she says, and turns away.
She doesn't say goodbye.
