This post is basically so I can tell you all that I am severely OTPing all over the place.
Previously, I OTPed using words and ficrecs. Today, I'd like to OTP using images.
This collection is incomplete - there are two OTPs that I will never talk about in public, as my love for them cannot be rendered textually or visually. Quite literally, whenever I try to talk about them, all I can say is "ALDKJALSDKJALDSFF" and, occasionally, "meant to be omfg." But aside from these two pairings that shall remain nameless, here is my love rendered pictographically.
I have limited this picspam to enduring pairings - those pairings that I have loved for many years. I know that OTP = One True Pairing, and it seems funny that one can have more than one OTP. But I can, so long as the pairings do not overlap. My standards for OTP are simple, and as follows:
1. My love for the pairing must endure. CJ/Toby, for example. I have loved them like mad for the last seven years. I stopped watching TWW three years ago, but the merest mention of them still brings me to flail.
2. My love for the pairing must bring me near speechlessness. I am so close to going "aslaksdfff" for each of these pairings, it is ridiculous.
3. I have made exception to point one for one or two pairings, simply because I know how I work, and I suspect my love for these pairings will last.

I've only seen the miniseries once but oh, how it dwelled with me. I made about five hundred thousand Alia icons (okay, maybe twelve) except I don't have any of them on LJ. They are all so fucked up in exactly the right way. So extreme and so uncompromising in a compromising way. Do you think Frank Herbert knew what he was doing or did he just want to create a certain situation (Abomination) but didn't really, truly think it through? Or perhaps he thought he could take it so far and no further?
speaking of not many people in this fandom, I +1 your thoughts for a comm for East West 101.
I just started an NCIS:LA one and am discombobulated by the responsibility. If no-one else has made one by next week's episode I probably will OMG. How can you go from zero to sixty of fandom involvment?

Date: 2009-10-22 09:15 am (UTC)They are so totally fucked up, and so uncompromising and so FIERCE that I love them all. I love all of the Atreides, and a lot of the other characters. You should absolutely watch the mini again as soon as you are able! I watch it quite often, just with it in the background so I can watch my favourite bits.
I think Herbert did it on purpose. As you know, I think that Herbert had some SERIOUS issues, and I think he chose a lot of the themes in his books intentionally. There's this bit in God Emperor of Dune where someone comments how cruel it was, that Leto was alive 3000 years without his twin, it would have been better to kill them both (or something), and I can't believe that Herbert wrote that by accident.
If it helps I will co-mod the East West 101 comm...I have seriously been thinking about starting one except the idea of doing anything right now that isn't paid employment or assignments is doing my head in.

Do you have srs thoughts, things you want to be in charge of, definite ideas about how things/some things are set up? Do you want it on LJ? I am majority DW in my leaning but I'd be happy to set up a DW feed for an LJ-based community or repost to a DW mirror. Shall we do this by email? I am copracat at yahoo dot com.
I have been having more fun than I expected setting up the ncis:los angeles comm on DW. (And we have 24 whole subscribers who are not me!)
