Hey I saw Inception! What is UP with the lack of ladies? And also the proliferation of white dudes? I mean, what does a girl have to do to get some variety on her screen?

Anyway, also: oh Inception fandom.

I want fic about Ariadne, or Saito, or Yusuf, or Arthur could also be interesting. I would definitely be partial to Ariadne/Arthur fic. I would accept Ariadne/Arthur/Eames fic. I would love lol crossovers. I would in fact love character analysis of any kind. Maybe not Cobb though.

I have made 24 x fic recs in the other journal. They are mostly Ariadne+Arthur, I am not going to lie. I love Ellen Page the most. THE MOST. Though I would also adore anyone who fulfilled this prompt,
Pre-movie Eames-Yusuf buddy fic. Drug-addled adventures in Kenya! Fear And Loathing In Mombasa
, because that would be the best. THE BEST.

Speaking of the other journal, you can also of recent find 5x Dr Who fic recs.

Please leave your fic recs in the comments.

oh p.s. [livejournal.com profile] whatimages said 1) Joseph Gordon Levitt. JOSEPH GORDON LEVITT. Oh my god his face. His suits! His...everything. Why is there not Ellen Page/JGL lies in my life RIGHT THIS SECOND? and I have to agree RIGHT NOW.

"What is UP with the lack of ladies?" could sum up my response to nearly every major movie lately (Hi, Star Trek, The Dark Knight, Sherlock Holmes, and all your movie friends!). It's annoying. And old.

For Christopher Nolan's next crazy project, I want him to write a script just like he normally would, and then reverse all the gender roles. Note: I'd take this from any director, really.

Also, if Nolan could stop obsessing with dead wives or girlfriends! That would also be tremendous!

You don't know me, but I agree with this comment so hard that I had to say something, because the power of my agreement could not be contained.

So few ladies :( :( BUT, Ariadne fic makes my life at the moment. Though the lack of slanderous lies is somewhat perplexing. I mean, what is UP with that?

I have found three slanderous lies, and they are all about hipsters on roadtrips. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT. Here is one of them if you are interested: The Gospel According to Kerouac. It is not amazing, but worth it for the line They fog up the windows (“slap your hand against the window DiCaprio style,” she goads, “I dare you,” and Joe has never been one to pass on a dare, so the next day when Matthew asks about the handprints on the window and Ellen starts humming “My Heart Will Go On,” he can only shake his head and laugh).

Haha, I'm actually 5000 words into a mildly epic Yusuf and Eames in Kenya story. But no drug-addled hijinks, unfortunately. I read a good Arthur and Ariadne one the other day... When I get home tonight I'll drop you a link to it.

Snerk, coincidence... I just noticed the Foreign Affairs newsletter in my inbox features an article called 'Fear and Loathing in Nairobi' by John Githongo... and my story is about John Githongo. Sign from the universe to get writing already, methinks.

I AM MAKING GRABBY HANDS AT YOUR FIC. I started a fic about Yusuf today, because I love him. There is some Eames.

I find it kind of hard to extrapolate a characterisation for Yusuf, given that he only has about five lines in the film (including one throw-away joke and one response to a throw-away joke). But I've made him a badass, because: whatever, bitches! I totally can!

You must finish your story post-haste. The world needs more Yusuf fic!

I'm also inordinately fond of Eames. The absence of JGL's dimples in that movie pains me, though. Such a missed opportunity!

He totally had more than five lines! I am writing a fic about him becoming badass, actually. WOO. And You must finish your fic post haste! I am worried about his characterisation, but you are also kind of right - mostly we can just extrapolate his awesomeness?

I am fond of most of them, actually. Saito is pretty much a fierce awesome of awesomeness, what with buying the plane etc. All of them! Fierce!

Do you like my incoherence? Oh yeah.

Haha, one of my favourite parts of the movie was Yusuf repeatedly pushing Arthur over in the chair. From that, we can certainly extrapolate awesomeness-- and a sense of humour, too, which is more than we can say for most of the rest of them.

Ken Watanabe pwns everything in sight. He's an excellent example of having aged brilliantly, oh my. Sadly, I just don't really feel the Saito/Cobb-- wish I could, but: bah.

I want to like Arthur/Eames, I really do (Eames is also fierce, darling-- and I do love taking apart arrogant pretty men with neocolonial complexes), but a lot of the stories have been leaving me kind of cold. Bit of 'any two guys' factor happening, I think... so I guess we're just going to have to go with Arthur/Ariadne, yes. Although my own story is gen.

Gen is good!

That's a good way of describing how I feel about Arthur/Eames too, actually. Like, it's fine, whatever, but I'm not surprised that it's The Pairing - it's two skinny young white guys, what a fucking surprise. So I sort of feel a bit blah about the stories...?

UGHHHHH RIGHT

Also why is Cobb/Saito not the OTP of that fandom. THEY SET UP THE PARALLELS WITH COBB'S DEAD WIFE. Oh right, because Saito isn't white.

I had nothing against Arthur when I first watched the movie, but he didn't really do anything for me, either. But then I discovered that pretty much every fic in the fandom involves Arthur and my neutrality turned into irritation because OBVIOUSLY THE INTERNET IS SUPPOSED TO CATER TO MY WHIMS, WHY DIDN'T EVERYONE GET THE MEMO? W/e w/e maybe I will write some Ariadne/Cobb and Saito/Cobb over in the corner instead of just complaining for once.

HAVE YOU CONSIDERED WRITING ABOUT YUSUF?! BECAUSE HE'S AMAZING?! Also I am pretty resentful that he was quite important to the plot and yet didn't get any promo work, because he would have looked great on all those posters and things. Also! He's cool! I am pretty sure it is because he is not white.

I want Cobb/Saito fic so hard, but everything I've seen has been not-good so far. I WILL LET YOU KNOW IF I FIND ANY. But also do not let that stop you from writing it!

I like Arthur, and I am totally shipping Ariadne/Arthur, but yeah. I AGREE WHY IS HE WITH EVERYONE?! (ans: because he is JGL)

Oh hey I meant to drop this in your post earlier, but then I couldn't remember my dw login and THEN I got distracted, but maybe this will interest you: The Pearl Fishers, Yusuf/Ariadne. It's adorable! And due to my love of Yusuf, now I am sort of shipping Yusuf/Ariadne a little bit.

Totally threadjacking to thank you for the Yusuf/Ariadne rec! I've been looking everywhere for fic where they're interacting (or Yusuf appears for more than a sentence, ffs) and, even if I didn't ship them before, I think I might ship them now due to that fic!
